Regarding charity fraud John Donald Cody, alias Bobby Thompson, has been charged in Ohio with fraud and theft from the national charity, US Navy Veteran Association. Cody supposedly stole the identity of Thompson, and $100 million is missing from the association. The funds were advertised to be used for "helping veterans", but very little money can be accounted for at this time. Awards for the whistleblowers in this case are pending and will not be determined until completion of the trial in Cleveland.
A non-profit collection of money for a worthy cause is extremely difficult to track. lt is difficult to determine how much was collected, and equally difficult to determine where it went if funds were dispersed in cash. Cody is a Harvard Law School graduate who apparently knew the intricacies of identity theft. He was an habitual name dropper who used pictures of himself with celebrities to help strong arm supporters into greater contributions. It is definitely heart-breaking to think that all these funds were intended for our deserving veterans in need and their families, and not one cent has reached them as of yet. Cody should not be a free man again in this lifetime, and the whistleblowers deserve most adequate compensation for helping to get this criminal off the street.
